Saskatchewan National Event
Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
June 21-24, 2012
Saskatoon Prairieland Park

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada will host its fourth National Event in Saskatoon. This is an opportunity for all Canadians, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, to learn more about and bear witness to the legacy of the Residential School system. For more information on the event check the TRC website.

In residential schools, student birthdays were not celebrated. As part of the closing ceremonies of the Saskatchewan TRC event, there will be a survivor birthday celebration. Anglican parishes across Saskatchewan are providing funding to purchase cupcakes for this celebration. Parishes are designating May 27th or June 3rd as cupcake Sunday. For more information, in the Diocese of Saskatoon, contact your parish office or the Diocesan Office.
At short notice the churches have been asked to sponsor one of the Pancake Breakfasts at the June Truth and Reconciliation in Saskatoon. These breakfasts cost $5.00 and are for survivors of the Residential Schools.
If you would like to donate to this sponsorship, please forward your gift to the
Diocese of Saskatoon, 1403 – 9th Av North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2Z6. Please make your cheque payable to the Diocese of Saskatoon and indicate it is for the “TRC - Pankcake Breakfast”.
