Safe Church – Diocesan Regulations
As a community of Christian faith, The Diocese of Saskatoon is committed to creating and maintaining programs, facilities and a community in which members, friends, staff and volunteers can worship, learn and work together in an atmosphere free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, exploitation or intimidation. All persons associated with the diocese and it’s parishes should be aware that the church is strongly opposed to Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Harassment and Abuse in any form and that such behavior is prohibited by church policy. It is the intention of the church to take action in an attempt to prevent and correct behavior that is contrary to this policy and, if necessary, to discipline those persons who violate this policy.
In addition to the above the Diocesan Safe Church policy has guidelines for its buildings and properties.
The Safe Church Committee will be presenting its final draft to members of the Diocesan Synod on October 4, 2019 for final approval and addition to the Diocese of Saskatoon Constitution and Canons. After Synod approval the regulation will “roll out” to all parishes in each deanery for implementation.
This regulation will become a living document that will be updated and amended and will be monitored by the Canon Pastor who will be appointed immediately following Diocesan Synod.
